As BTS‘ “Butter” adds a ninth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the track keeps atop Billboard‘s Songs of the Summer chart (dated Aug. 7).
The 20-position Songs of the Summer running tally tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot 100 from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year encompassing charts dated June 12 through Sept. 11). At the end of the season, the top song of the summer will be revealed.
“Butter” holds atop the Songs of the Summer chart over a steady top five. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U”; Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” featuring DaBaby; Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA; and Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, remain at Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
One title makes its first appearance on the summery summary: DJ Khaled’s “Every Chance I Get,” featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk, at No. 20. The track bowed at its No. 20 high on the Hot 100 dated May 15 and has spent each of its weeks on the chart since in the top 40, ranking at No. 23 on the latest list.
DJ Khaled placed two tracks on the season-ending 2017 Songs of the Summer chart: “I’m the One,” featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, at No. 3 and “Wild Thoughts,” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, at No. 4.
