Brazilian funk musician MC Kevin died Sunday after falling from the fifth-floor balcony of a hotel, according to reports. He was 23 years old.
The artist (real name: Kevin Nascimento Bueno) was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The incident is still under investigation by local police.
The news of his death was confirmed by his wife, whom he had just married weeks ago. Deolane Bezerra posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing, “You were always so incredible. It’s not fair for you to leave like this. It’s not. It’s not.”
A promising artist on the rise, MC Kevin launched his career in 2014 with the breakout hit “Prepara Novinha” in collaboration with MC Pedrinho. With more than 10 million followers on Instagram and 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, MC Kevin most recently released his album titled Fênix.
“We thank everyone for their comforting messages of support and love,” a post reads on his official Instagram account. “We ask for prayers and much strength.”
