Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, and Phil Wickham to Lead Worship at Charlie Kirk Memorial Event

Several leading contemporary Christian musicians — Brandon Lake, Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Cody Carnes and Kari Jobe Carnes — are scheduled to lead worship at the memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Sunday, Sept. 21, according to the event’s official website.

The service, titled “Building A Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk,” will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with proceedings beginning at 11:00 a.m. local time.

Additional performers include Lee Greenwood, known for “God Bless the USA,” and recording artist Steve Amerson. Speakers scheduled to deliver remarks include Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, former President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.

Kirk — the founder of the youth organization Turning Point USA — was fatally shot on Sept. 10 during a question-and-answer session at a Turning Point USA “The American Comeback Tour” event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

In the days following his death, a number of artists issued statements expressing sorrow and support for Kirk’s family.

Brandon Lake posted a video on social media saying the news affected him deeply. He described praying for the family, processing the tragedy with his wife Brittany and struggling with fear, but also spoke about experiencing God’s comfort and a renewed resolve to share his faith even amid uncertainty. Chris Tomlin wrote on Instagram offering his condolences to Erika Kirk and her children, calling the incident a tragic moment for the nation and acknowledging Kirk’s boldness in expressing his faith. (Tomlin’s message appears here.)

Phil Wickham described feeling heavy-hearted and prayed for God’s comfort and closeness to Kirk’s loved ones, lamenting the violence and hatred evident in recent events. (Read Wickham’s statement here.)
