Brandon Blackstock, Music Manager and Former Husband of Kelly Clarkson, Dies at 48

Brandon Blackstock, the Nashville-based music manager known for his seven-year marriage to Kelly Clarkson, has died at 48 after a valiant three-year fight against cancer.
In a statement shared with People on August 7, the family expressed their deep sorrow: “It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Brandon Blackstock’s passing.”
“He fought cancer with unwavering courage for more than three years,” the statement continued, adding that he “passed away peacefully, surrounded by family.”
The family thanked everyone for their prayers and asked that they be allowed privacy during this extremely difficult time.
This heartbreaking announcement comes just one day after Clarkson postponed her August residency in Las Vegas, explaining on Instagram that she needed to be fully present for her children while their father’s health declined. “While I typically keep my personal life private, my children’s father has been gravely ill, and at this moment, I must prioritize being with them,” she wrote.
Clarkson added, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who purchased tickets and am so grateful for your grace and understanding.”
Born to Starstruck Entertainment co-founder Narvel Blackstock, Brandon was also the stepson of Reba McEntire, who was married to his father for 26 years. He wed Clarkson in 2013, and the couple shared two children: River, now 11, and Remington, 9. Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, initiating a protracted legal battle.
In addition to his children with Clarkson, Blackstock is survived by two children from his marriage to Melissa Ashworth—Savannah and Seth—as well as a young grandson, Lake.
