Bradley Cooper to Star in Sean Penn’s Film About the Capitol Riot
Deadline reports that Sean Penn has set his sights on his next directorial venture. The three-time Academy Award winner is set to helm a feature film centered on the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, with Bradley Cooper tapped to star in the lead role.
Cooper will portray a heroic police officer caught in the heart of the uprising sparked by Donald Trump’s supporters. Penn has also penned the screenplay for the currently untitled project, which will be distributed by Warner Bros. Production is tentatively scheduled to commence in mid-2027.
Penn recently earned an Oscar for his supporting role in “Battle for Battle.” Meanwhile, Cooper has just released the dramedy “Is This Thing On?” and is currently preparing for his upcoming turn in the “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel (2027), co-starring Margot Robbie.
