Blue Protocol Returns: Bandai Namco and Tencent Take on Genshin Impact

In 2024 it seemed Blue Protocol was destined to fade away. Bandai Namco halted development of the multiplayer RPG. The project, however, found a lifeline when Chinese powerhouse Tencent acquired it after recognizing its potential.

The company bought the rights and, after several months of work, made numerous changes to prepare the game for release.

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is set to launch on October 9, 2025. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and on mobile devices running iOS and Android. The game will follow a free-to-play model.

Blue Protocol positions itself as an alternative to Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. Its main edge is a genuine MMORPG framework — while those titles offer only limited cooperative features, Blue Protocol aims to deliver a full-scale massively multiplayer experience.

Developers have confirmed the game will support cross-platform progression, enabling smooth transitions between the PC and mobile versions.
