BLACKPINK paid a heartfelt tribute to the Spice Girls as they wrapped up their two-night stint at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium.

This past weekend, the K-pop superstars returned to London for the first time since their sell-out headline at BST Hyde Park in 2023, bringing their Deadline World Tour to a packed Wembley crowd.

On Saturday, August 16, the group surprised fans with an impromptu cover of the Spice Girls’ debut smash “Wannabe,” which reigned atop the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks in 1997. The audience joined in enthusiastically as BLACKPINK infused the ’90s classic with their own vibrant flair. Watch fan‐captured clips on X: here, here and here.

This wasn’t BLACKPINK’s first “Wannabe” moment. In 2023, Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo and Rosé performed the track during a memorable Carpool Karaoke with James Corden on The Late Late Show. Lisa admitted she grew up idolizing the Spice Girls, and Jennie praised each member’s unique persona. Corden even bestowed “Spice” nicknames on the quartet: Rosé became “Aussie Pink,” Lisa “Boss Pink,” Jennie “Shy Pink” and Jisoo “Nail Pink.”

Fans at Wembley were treated to an encore on Saturday when BLACKPINK returned to the stage for another spirited rendition of “Wannabe,” closing their London run with a dynamic display of song and dance.

Aptly, their latest single “Jump,” produced by Diplo, features the lyric “spice up your life,” a direct nod to the opening track of the Spice Girls’ 1997 Spiceworld album. “Jump” debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts in late July.

For anyone who missed BLACKPINK’s opening night at Wembley, we’ve gathered the seven standout moments from that show here.
