Bethesda Outlines Fallout 76 Roadmap and Release Timing for Fallout 3 Prequel Content
The developers have outlined the content coming to the game this winter and next year.
Bethesda has unveiled upcoming major updates for Fallout 76. In December 2026, the World Pets update will turn C.A.M.P. animals into full companions. Pets will gain levels during shared adventures, and players will be able to give them commands to stay put, follow their owner, defend them, or attack enemies.
The Hideouts update will arrive in the spring, introducing criminal dens that players can clear out to earn valuable loot. The developers view these as a stepping stone between early endgame content and raids. Experienced teams will have access to a higher Marked difficulty. In addition, a rival known as the Wanderer will hunt for loot, and defeating this competitor will yield special rewards.
In the summer of 2027, the developers will release Raven Rock and expand the map to the southeast toward the Capital Wasteland. The update’s story will focus on a conflict between two Enclave representatives. Bethesda positions Raven Rock as a Fallout 3 prequel set nearly 200 years before the events of the original game.

At the same time, the studio is working on improvements to seasonal events, weather, graphics, fishing, and the opening hours of the game. The developers emphasize that plans to support Fallout 76 span several more years.
