The festival program also includes an “In Conversation” event with Yeoh, alongside a screening of Baker’s short film Sandiwara, in which she plays the lead role.
Opening the festival was No Good Men, directed by Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat. The story follows Kabul TV’s only female camera operator, who remains cynical about the existence of “good men” in Afghanistan. Her beliefs are challenged when she embarks on a field assignment with a reporter named Qodrat.
The Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 12 to 22. This year’s international jury is presided over by the legendary German filmmaker Wim Wenders.
