In November 2017, Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter was accused of rape by a lady named Melissa Schuman, previously a member of the pop group Dream. Schuman alleged that Carter raped her in 2003 after she refused to carry out oral intercourse on him. Hours following the allegations, Carter shared an announcement that learn, “I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations. Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual… It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm.”

In February 2018, a police report towards Carter was filed in Los Angeles. Now, the L.A. district lawyer’s workplace has declined to prosecute the case, as The Hollywood Reporter factors out. The determination was made because of the expiration of the statute of limitations.
