“Avengers: Endgame” tops the US box office once again

“Avengers: Endgame” has surged back to the summit of the domestic box office. The re-release, titled “Avengers: Endgame – Encore,” hauled in approximately $26 million during its opening weekend across the U.S. and Canada, comfortably outpacing several new theatrical arrivals. For a blockbuster that originally debuted in 2019, returning to the number-one position is a testament to the audience’s appetite for the newly added content.

This refreshed edition of “Endgame” incorporates several minutes of additional footage designed to bridge the narrative gap toward the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday.” Most notably, audiences were treated to exclusive scenes featuring Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., alongside post-credits sequences that tease the next chapter of the franchise.

Taking the runner-up spot, Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil” secured $23 million in its sophomore weekend, bringing the horror film’s domestic total to $196.5 million.

Rounding out the top three is the action-adventure flick “Heart of the Beast,” starring Brad Pitt, which pulled in roughly $20 million during its debut weekend.
