Leadership will reorganize teams to better meet the demands of ongoing game projects.

Avalanche Studios has announced the closure of its Liverpool office and reductions to an unspecified number of positions.

In a statement posted on the studio’s website, Avalanche said the decision followed an internal review and was made in light of “current challenges” facing both the company and the games industry as a whole.

This review brought us to the difficult conclusion that changes to our staffing and office structure are necessary. As a result, we intend to close our Liverpool studio and begin a process of collective consultation as required by UK law. This will affect all employees in Liverpool.

These measures will also impact Avalanche’s studios in Malmö and Stockholm, where staff reductions and team reorganizations will be implemented to align with the needs of current projects.

Avalanche Studios had been developing the cooperative action title Contraband, which Microsoft cancelled in August of this year.
