Atomic Dove — Administrative Building of the ChNPP

Atomic Dove — Administrative Building of the ChNPP

An Elusive Sight in the Zone

It has been an eternity since anyone reported seeing a dove in the Zone. Yet, word from a reliable associate suggests at least one remains. Though I haven’t witnessed it myself, the description of its perch is unmistakable.

Atomic Dove bas-relief

Perched atop the administrative wing of the CNPP sits a sprawling metal bas-relief known as the “Atomic Dove.” To call it a bird is a stretch; the moniker truly earns its “atomic” designation, standing as a brutal, abstract monolith rather than a symbol of peace.

Originally, this artwork served as a beacon of the “peaceful atom,” adorning the main gateway to the power plant. This was the threshold where staff gathered to secure their clearances, the essential checkpoint for those venturing into the facility’s depths.

Then, the world shattered in a single night.

Tucked deep beneath the building’s foundation lies a fortified bunker, home to the station’s crisis command. As the fourth reactor burned, the figures huddled within those walls fought a frantic, losing battle against the unfolding catastrophe. Once a grand gateway to progress, the administration block was suddenly repurposed into the grim epicenter of the disaster’s management.

Deteriorating surroundings

Today, only decay remains. Rusted machinery litters the courtyard, and the wind howls through hollowed-out window frames, with the metallic dove still clinging to the facade. These doors once led to the beating heart of the station; now, I fear to imagine what twisted remnants lie within.

If your travels lead you toward those ruins, do not linger. The Zone shows no mercy to the curious.
