ASUS Unveils ROG Xreal R1 Gaming AR Glasses with 171-Inch Virtual Screen

ASUS is making a bold entrance into the XR hardware market with a high-end flagship model specifically engineered for the gaming community.

At CES 2026, ASUS unveiled the ROG Xreal R1, a sophisticated pair of extended reality glasses developed in strategic partnership with Xreal.

The ROG Xreal R1 features cutting-edge micro-OLED panels boasting a 240 Hz refresh rate and 1080p resolution. The package includes the ROG Control Dock, featuring HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity for seamless integration with PCs and consoles, while ROG Ally handheld users can enjoy a direct plug-and-play experience via a single USB-C connection.

According to ASUS specifications, these glasses project a massive 171-inch virtual screen that appears approximately four meters away. With a 57-degree field of view, the device ensures that the visual output covers up to 95% of the user’s focal area for maximum immersion.

Adhering to the iconic Republic of Gamers aesthetic, the headset includes customizable RGB lighting and weighs just 91 grams. The integrated audio system was developed by Bose, and the lenses feature electrochromic dimming technology, allowing users to adjust transparency levels automatically or manually to suit their environment.

While official pricing has yet to be announced, the ROG Xreal R1 is scheduled to hit the market during the first half of 2026.
