Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Game Director Returns to Ubisoft to Lead New Series Games

Following stints on the Dead Space remake and Battlefield 6, Eric Baptizat has rejoined Ubisoft as the overall franchise game director for Assassin’s Creed.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla director Eric Baptizat has returned to Ubisoft after previously leaving the company. He will now serve as the game director for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Vice President and Executive Producer Jean Guesdon announced the return on LinkedIn:

I am thrilled to share some great news. After an incredible professional journey including 16 years at Ubisoft and leading the critically acclaimed Dead Space remake at EA Motive, Eric Baptizat is returning to the Assassin’s Creed family as our new brand game director.

Guesdon also noted the developer’s past contributions to the series:

16 years at Ubisoft, key contributions to Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla as game director, his passion for gameplay creation, and his deep connection to this franchise speak for themselves.

Baptizat left Ubisoft following the release of Valhalla and subsequently worked on the Dead Space remake and Battlefield 6.

It remains unknown what changes he will bring to the series. Ubisoft has officially confirmed the development of only two new projects, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe and Codename Jade. The former is considered the next major release for PC and consoles.
