Arrow” Star to Lead New “Baywatch

Recent reports have officially confirmed the lead actor for the highly anticipated television revival of Baywatch. Canadian star Stephen Amell, widely recognized for his roles in Arrow and the upcoming Suits: L.A., has been cast in the central role.

The reboot was first unveiled in early 2024 and is set to air on Fox. The inaugural season is slated for a 12-episode run, with cameras expected to start rolling this spring.

Amell will step into the shoes of Hobie Buchannon, who has followed in his father’s footsteps to become the lifeguard captain. As the son of the legendary Mitch Buchannon (immortalized by David Hasselhoff), Hobie’s life takes an unexpected turn when he discovers he has a daughter named Charlie. The series follows the drama that unfolds as she joins the elite rescue squad, forcing Hobie to navigate a fatherhood he never knew existed.

Action veteran McG (Charlie’s Angels) is attached to direct the pilot and serve as executive producer, while Matt Nix (Burn Notice) will act as the series showrunner. An official premiere date has yet to be announced.

The original Baywatch phenomenon, which turned David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson into global icons, dominated television screens from 1989 to 1999. The franchise was previously reimagined in 2017 as a big-screen action-comedy starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron.
