Acclaimed actor Anton Lapenko (best known for Inside Lapenko) is set to lead the cast of The Seventh Player, an upcoming hockey dramedy. The series is slated to premiere on the Kinopoisk streaming platform.
Lapenko will be joined by an ensemble including Grigory Vernik, Nikolai Fomenko, and Svetlana Nemolyaeva. The plot revolves around the “Stroitel” hockey club and its ambitious director, Artyom (played by Lapenko). In the heat of the competitive season, Artyom initiates a radical overhaul of the club, fundamentally transforming everything from daily training protocols to its overarching competitive strategy.
The production is helmed by director Sergey Pikalov (Point Zero), with Vadim Sveshnikov (Container, Prometheus) serving as the project’s creative producer.
Filming for The Seventh Player is currently underway on location in Russia and Belarus. An official release date will be disclosed in the near future.
