Analysts Reveal Ghost of Yotei’s First-Week Sales
Ghost of Yotei, developed by Sucker Punch Productions, launched on October 2, 2025 for PS5 and earned strong reviews from critics. While Sony has not released official sales numbers, analyst Rees Elliott of Alinea Analytics reported that the game moved over 1.6 million copies in its first week.
When retail shipments are included, total units reached about 2 million, generating roughly $100 million in revenue. Despite a solid debut, those figures fell short of Ghost of Tsushima’s performance, which sold 2.4 million copies within three days in 2020. Elliott pointed to a smaller PS5 install base and the unusually high gaming demand during the pandemic as key reasons for the disparity.
According to Elliott, 30% of players logged more than 20 hours in Ghost of Yotei during the first week. Additionally, 93% of the audience had previously played Ghost of Tsushima, 30% had played Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and 27% had experience with Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In 2026 the game will receive a free cooperative mode called Legends, which will include both story-driven and survival-style missions.
