Amazon Unveils Trailer for Animated Series “Mighty Nein” — a Dungeons & Dragons Spinoff of “The Legend of Vox Machina”
Amazon is bringing Critical Role’s second Dungeons & Dragons campaign to the screen.
Amazon has released the first trailer for the animated series The Mighty Nein — the second installment set in the Critical Role universe. The story unfolds in the same world as The Legend of Vox Machina, but takes place twenty years later on a different continent.
“The Mighty Nein follows a band of fugitives and outcasts bound together by secrets and scars. When a powerful magical artifact known as the Beacon falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to cooperate if they hope to save the kingdom and prevent reality’s unraveling.”
The series adapts the eponymous second Critical Role campaign, which ran as a podcast from 2018 to 2021. As with Vox Machina, the principal characters are voiced by members of the original tabletop cast — including Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, and other regular contributors to Critical Role.
The script for The Mighty Nein was written by Tasha Huo, who previously worked on the controversial prequel The Witcher: Origins, the reboot of Red Sonja, and Netflix’s animated Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Animation is once again provided by Titmouse, the studio behind Vox Machina.
The Mighty Nein premieres on November 19 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
