Good news, Alicia Keys fans: New music is on the way. On Wednesday (Sept. 1), the “Truth Without Love” single informed her followers via social media that she’s got new music coming. The announcement came in the form of the official cover art, which revealed the title — “La La” — is a collab with artist Swae Lee and arriving Sept. 9.
The image features a stunning profile shot of Keys with her hair slicked back into a modest bun, while wearing larger-than-life gold jewelry. The singer-songwriter wears bamboo hoops adorned with the word “queen,” and several stacked, oversized gold chains drape from her neck. Even the tips of her fingers are painted gold, suggesting that she has the Midas touch.
“New music. Timeless vibes. #LALA 9/9,” she captioned the image.
Keys tagged producer Mike WiLL Made-It in her Instagram post — suggesting that he lent her his talents for the track — who hopped in the comments section to hype up the track. “BIG Keys [emoji],” he wrote, followed by muscle, ear, drum and globe emojis. The collaborators also shared an interaction with each other on Twitter hours before the single announcement, with the producer tweeting, “Alicia Keys [emoji],” and the singer responding “light the incense,” followed by several side eye emojis.
Fans also may have gotten a preview of the song thanks to Keys, who posted a snippet of what sounds to be Lee’s “La La” verse on TikTok two days ahead of the announcement. “Light the incense/ Not to mention/ Skin like whiskey/ She’s cold like on the rocks,” Lee appears to sing on the track. Keys later shared the TikTok video to her Twitter account, asking the dancers in a stitch video, “This is a ZONEEEEEEE!!!! Can y’all teach me the #LaLa???”
