There’s a new face by the waterline in Kinlaig — Alasdair. His name is Gaelic in origin and pronounced much like “Alistair.” You may have already heard him in our Kinlaig trailer; here we give you a closer look at the man who arrived on a stormy night and made the harbor his home.

Meet Alasdair
Harbormaster. Fisherman. Weathered and Wry.

Alasdair’s life is tied to the tides. He turned up on a night when the lighthouse failed to shine and decided that the harbor suited him well. Rumor has it one of Kinlaig’s shipwrecks belongs to him — he just can’t quite remember which.

Tales of the Deep
Before settling in Kinlaig, Alasdair captained expeditions and picked up a trove of sea stories. He loves talking about the ocean’s mysteries — the strange bioluminescent life, the abyss beyond sunlight, and the odd creatures that thrive where daylight never reaches.

At depths where the sun gives up and visibility becomes a rumor, the anglerfish drifts with its lanternlike lure — a living trick to attract prey. One of its favorites is the orange roughy: vivid in color, yet adapted to life in perpetual darkness. Nature has a peculiar sense of humor, and the ocean is full of it.
Questions & Answers
Is Alasdair’s voice generated by AI?
No — his voice is performed. We recorded British voice actor John Kennard to bring the character to life. After getting a key for Farming Simulator 25, he enjoyed the game so much he logged many hours — a sign he’s invested in the world he helped voice.
Is his accent from the Highlands?
Not exactly. We wanted flavor without sacrificing clarity, so the performance blends nautical color with speech that’s easy for a wide audience to understand — including younger players who may not read subtitles.
What topics will he discuss?
Alasdair shares a little about his past, but mainly focuses on the sea: its regions, inhabitants, and why they matter. He also offers practical tips for fishing — whether you’re relaxing with a rod on the shore or building a serious aquaculture operation.
Will he appear on other maps?
Alasdair has made Kinlaig his home and will remain a fixture at that harbor. That’s where he feels most at ease.
