aespa is stepping into a bold new chapter, and they are demanding your undivided attention.
The Seoul-based powerhouses dropped “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” on Monday, May 11, serving as the electrifying lead single from their upcoming second studio album, LEMONADE. The track boasts a high-profile collaboration with legendary BIGBANG frontman G-DRAGON, marking a monumental team-up.
Musically, “WDA” leans heavily into a gritty, bass-driven aesthetic, blending hard-hitting synth textures with sharp hip-hop sensibilities. Featuring a bilingual mix of English and Korean verses, the song reaches a fever pitch when G-DRAGON delivers a razor-sharp third verse, rounding out the track with haunting, rhythmic hooks like “Give me all smoke, gun powder, powder.”
Accompanying the release is a visually arresting music video that pulls viewers into a surreal, digitally fractured landscape. The imagery plays with themes of perception, featuring distorted, multiplying replicas of the four members that challenge the boundary between the real and the manufactured. Ultimately, the narrative sees the group shattering this chaos to reclaim their true selves.
Fresh off their win for Group of the Year at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music awards, aespa first teased LEMONADE last month. This highly anticipated LP follows their 2024 EP Whiplash—which peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200—and is slated for a May 29 release. Fans can also look forward to their expansive “SYNK: COMPLæXITY” world tour, launching August 7 with back-to-back performances in Seoul before hitting major markets across Asia, North America, and Europe.
