Adam Sandler Reveals Which ‘Antisemitic’ Musician He Regrettably Called Out in the ‘SNL50’ Sketch

In his SNL50 musical routine, Adam Sandler’s tongue-in-cheek lyric about unearthing antisemitism in once-idolized performers struck a chord, mirroring real-life controversies.

In an interview with Vulture published August 26, he was asked if he had anyone specific in mind when he crooned, “Fifty years of finding out your favorite musician is antisemitic.” Sandler diplomatically replied, “I’ll leave that open to interpretation.”

Reflecting further, the Happy Gilmore star conceded, “I can’t pinpoint just one, unfortunately there are several.”

This revelation arrived roughly six months after Sandler headlined Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, where he crafted a nostalgic song celebrating five decades of ensemble lore, including jabs at cast members’ bravado and heartfelt nods to the show’s legacy.

Though Sandler noted multiple artists have made antisemitic remarks, listeners quickly suspected he was alluding to Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, who has been embroiled in charges of anti-Jewish rhetoric.

Taking to X after the broadcast, Ye wrote, “Adam Sandler, thank you for the love.”

Moments later, the Yeezy founder clarified his stance: “After reflecting, I realize I’m not a Nazi.”

Sandler’s number was just one highlight of SNL50, which reunited distinguished alumni for a landmark live broadcast and featured performances by Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny and Cher.

“We struck gold with that song,” Sandler remarked to Vulture. “Being on that stage, surrounded by legends, was surreal.”

He added, “The energy was electric—everyone felt that same connection. It made crafting the lyrics effortless, because you could sense the audience’s shared history with the show.”
