Original The Voice coach Adam Levine is coming back to the show for a special performance of “Beautiful Mistakes” with his band Maroon 5 as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Billboard can exclusively reveal.
The performance will take place during the live finale next Tuesday, May 25. Levine left his red spinning chair in 2019 after eight years and 16 seasons of the NBC singing competition. He was replaced by Gwen Stefani at the time, and Gwen’s fiancé and fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton had a special reunion with Levine outside the show’s stage ahead of the performance, as seen in the photo above. Levine, who previously unveiled his silver Lord of the Rings-inspired hair, is now sporting a new hot-pink hair color in the sneak peek.
“It’s good to be back on The Voice and see Carson, Kelly, Nick, and John,” Levine quipped in a statement to Billboard about coaches Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas and John Legend and host Carson Daly — noticeably leaving Shelton off the list.
Levine announced Maroon 5’s seventh studio album Jordi, named after the band’s late longtime manager Jordan Feldstein, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in April, which includes their 2019 hit single “Memories” and the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “Beautiful Mistakes.” The latter collaboration reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month.
After saying he “would love” to perform at Shelton and Stefani’s wedding, Levine joked with DeGeneres about how much he’s missed making fun of Shelton on The Voice and how he likely got disinvited to their wedding by admitting that he plans to ruin the couple’s special day. “I’ll go to the wedding and I’ll object,” he said. “I will probably not be invited now, but I’m saying this on live television.”
Catch Adam with Maroon 5 and Meg on the live finale of The Voice, airing Tuesday, May 25, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
