A Fan-Favorite Fortnite Feature Will Return in Chapter 7 Season 4
As Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 rapidly approaches, players who spent countless hours hunting down sprites throughout Season 3 have been left wondering about their hard-earned collections. Fortunately, Epic Games has officially put those concerns to rest. Developer confirmations reveal that players will not only retain their current sprite rosters heading into the new season, but they will also see an even larger wave of tiny companions joining the fray.
With each seasonal update, Epic Games introduces fresh mechanics and weaponry to keep the gameplay loop engaging, particularly for long-time veterans. Chapter 7 Season 3 famously debuted sprites—collectible little entities that grant passive buffs when equipped. Fans scoured the map to complete their collections, leveling up their companions by surviving skirmishes, securing eliminations, and looting containers. To lock in their progression, players had to successfully secure a Victory Royale or extract from the match. This process rewarded them with valuable Sprite Dust, which could then be spent on exclusive unlocks.
Marking the arrival of the Gaming Legends-themed Chapter 7 Season 4, a brand-new sanctuary known as the Sprite Garden is set to open its doors. This social getaway allows players to visit and interact with their collected companions. According to Epic, Season 3 sprites will be permanently “immortalized” within this space, ensuring that even if certain entities are eventually vaulted from standard Battle Royale matches, they will always remain accessible inside the Sprite Garden.
Season 4 is introducing a diverse lineup of new sprites, several of which have already been previewed. Notably, the five community winners of the Design-A-Sprite contest will see their fan-made concepts brought to life next season. Here is a look at those winning designs, as detailed on the official Epic Games community blog:
- Bullet Sprite: Looting standard ammunition boxes yields a slightly higher quantity of bullets.
- Dumpster Dive Sprite: Automatically scavenges and gathers secondary loot whenever the player dives into a dumpster.
- Honey Sprite: Summons a protective swarm of bees that aggressively targets nearby enemies who deal damage to the player, inflicting light damage over time.
- Pond Sprite: Grants enhanced movement speed, increased jump height, and noticeable fall damage mitigation.
- X-Ray Sprite: Briefly highlights nearby opponents through walls and environmental obstacles.
While these entities proved immensely popular, the community remains somewhat divided over their inclusion. Although fun in practice, the constant grind required to acquire them can occasionally feel exhausting. Players frequently have to track specific peak hours just to lock down the rarest variants, turning what should be pure entertainment into a tedious chore. Driven by the fear of missing out (FOMO) typical of modern live-service titles, many fans burn themselves out chasing completion rather than enjoying the core experience.
