‘Cultura Clash’ Season Finale
Billboard’s Cultura Clash first season has officially come to an end after six informative and star-studded episodes. The new video series, which premiered on Sept. 27, spotlights Latin artists and influencers discussing trending topics within the Latin culture and music. Hosted by AJ Ramos, each episode drives conversations and provides nuanced views on issues within the Latin space that affect both fans and the industry at large. The first episode — which was filmed during Billboard‘s Latin Music Week — featured stars Goyo, Kany Garcia, Tostao, and Yotuel Romero in discussion on the importance of Latin artists in supporting social justice issues. Cultura Clash also included singers, songwriting, producers, and actors as guests including Ally Brooke, Kali Uchis, Paloma Mami, Elena Rose, Jimmy Humilde, Ovy on the Drums, Banda MS manager and founder Sergio Lizárraga, and more. Rauw Alejandro’s Choli Run
This week, Rauw Alejandro had four sold-out concerts at The Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, where he performed his biggest hits including “Todo De Ti,” “Tattoo” and “Fantasias,” among others. The concert was also aired simultaneously in movie theaters on the island for unvaccinated children. “I don’t have words to express what it feels to share four nights in the island that gave me life,” he expressed in a statement. “Sharing this joy with my fans and family means a lot to me.” Rauw was joined on stage by Wisin, Myke Towers, Reik, Chencho Corleone, Manuel Turizo, and many more.
A Daddy Yankee Tribute
Further proving that Daddy Yankee‘s music is timeless and global, Korean boy band T1419 dropped a tribute to the reggaeton veteran this week. “We are a fan of yours,” the K-pop group said in a YouTube video. “To express our love to you we wanted to send a small token of thanks with this dance video.” In the clip, all nine members of T1419 are seen dressed in black with yellow gloves and flaunting a killer choreography to Daddy Yankee’s “Problema.” Watch their performance below.
A Latin Grammy Sweepstakes
The Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation and Omaze have teamed up to give one lucky winner and a guest a nine-day trip across Colombia, where they will visit Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. Donations will go to Charities Aid Foundation America (CAF America), which will then grant the donations, minus the experience fees and costs, to the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, dedicated to providing educational equity, access, and success to college-bound students from around the world who face barriers to a quality music education, according to the official website. Flights, hotels, cultural experiences, and $1,000 are all included in the prize. To participate, visit Omaze’s website and participate until Jan. 28, 2022. Winners will be announced on Feb. 16, 2022.
Paloma Mami’s New Commercial
Chilean artist Paloma Mami has teamed up with Samsung for a new Christmas campaign. “Need to cook up an epic gift? Paloma Mami has a two-step recipe that’s one part 108MP photos and one part premium sound,” says an official press release, where the 2021 Latin Grammy nominee is seen promoting the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G and Galaxy Buds2. In the 30-second spot, Paloma is seen crashing a family dinner and rapping about the latest Samsung gadgets. Watch it below:
