Billboard Latin Music Awards

This week, Telemundo and Billboard unveiled the official date and venue of the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards to take place Thursday, Sept. 23, at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Fla. Considered the longest-running awards show in Latin music, the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards coincide with Billboard Latin Music Week, returning to Miami from Sept. 20-25. The weeklong event celebrates Latin music, culture and entertainment with exclusive performances, one-of-a-kind conversations, workshops, showcases and on-the-ground consumer moments.

Los Adolescentes’ New Era

Renowned salsa orchestra Los Adolescentes are celebrating their 25th anniversary this week by officially presenting their new singers. Founded in 1995 by Venezuelan businessman Luis Francisco “El Negro” Mendoza, the salsa group is now composed by Jimmy Rodríguez (México), Ernesto Cabrera (Cuba), Rodrigo Silva (Chile), Jonathan Martínez (Colombia), and Alex Quintero (Venezuela), demonstrating a fresh and international lineup. Los Adolescentes — known for timeless hits including “Hoy Aprendi,” “Personal Ideal (Me Tengo Que Ir)” and “Aquel Lugar” — is currently making the rounds with their salsa version of “Resistire.”

Becky G Celebrates “Mayores”

Becky G celebrated four years since her Bad Bunny-assisted banger “Mayores” dropped. “I know what this song has done for me and the impact it’s had on my career,” she tweeted. “I appreciate your love and support. Thank you Benito for accompanying me.” With the infectious reggaeton, both Becky and Bad Bunny earned their first-ever No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart in 2018. The music video amassed over two billion views at time of publishing. ​​

Cuba Nostalgia Returns to Miami

Cultural festival Cuba Nostalgia returns to Miami’s Fair Expo Center from September 17-19 for its 22nd edition. The festival, which commemorates Cuban culture, has a star-studded lineup including Albita Rodríguez, Amaury Gutiérrez, Carlos Manuel, Los 3 de la Habana, and many more. This year, Cuba Nostalgia will include 14 thematic exhibitions, including La Bodeguita del Medio, Castillo del Morro, Malecó and Tropicana, to name a few. The three-day event will officially launch Sept. 16 with a “VIP Night” for celebrities and press.

Jossef’s Career Milestone

This week, Puerto Rican newcomer Jossef shared an exciting milestone in his career, receiving his first-ever gold record. “The first of many,” he expressed on Instagram. Jossef was certified Gold in Spain for his “Persia Remix” in collaboration with Eix and Jamby “El Favo” released in January. In addition, Jossef unveiled that he surpassed 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel. “Thank you all for making this possible, I love you,” he wrote to fans on social media. Jossef is currently making the rounds with his single “X2.”
