Each year, the IMS Business Report offers a deep dive into the musical, financial and cultural trends driving the growth of the global dance music industry.
Now, after a year like no other, the IMS Report will return this Monday (June 28) to offer a survey of the dance scene as it emerges from the grips of the pandemic.
For the first time, the report has been prepared by data analyst David Boyle, who will present highlights from the full report during the presentation, which begins streaming at 9 a.m. PT via Beatport’s Twitch, Facebook and YouTube channels, along with the Billboard Dance Facebook page.
The report will feature detailed data on the last year in the electronic music industry, highlighting trends and offering analysis into the impact of the pandemic, including how it has affected the total value of the industry. Key themes from the presentation will include trends in recorded music, festivals and clubs, live streaming, NFTs and other growth areas that have made waves in the worldwide scene during an unprecedented year.
Boyle’s presentation will be followed by a live streamed discussion featuring Bart Cools, executive vp global A&R and marketing for dance music at Warner Music; Mark Lawrence, the director of electronic music at Sentric Music; and Beatport’s director of industry relations Susan Gloy-Kruse. The panel will be moderated by Billboard Dance director Katie Bain.
