20 Minutes in Yakuza Kiwami 3: Dark Ties — Story, Combat, and Karaoke

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio had a surprise for fans. At Tokyo Game Show 2025 the studio revealed not only a demo for Yakuza Kiwami 3, but also a separate new title that serves as a prologue to the reimagined narrative of the third entry.

Yakuza Kiwami 3: Dark Ties will arrive as an expansion to the remake. The project focuses on the life of Yoshitaka Mine — the antagonist from the original — and seeks to reveal the origins of his deep-seated inferiority complex that undermines his ability to relate to others and even to be honest with those closest to him. Although the add-on is scheduled to release alongside Yakuza Kiwami 3 on February 12, 2026, the developers chose to preview portions of Mine’s journey and combat moves ahead of time.

For the show the team prepared a demo available both to visitors at the booth and to viewers of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s dedicated panel. The studio highlighted variety: presenting Mine’s first steps meeting Tsuyoshi Kando, action-packed fight sequences, and even a karaoke episode.
