While massive blockbuster reveals are exciting, there is something truly special about indie showcases. They offer a front-row seat to hidden gems that might otherwise fly under the radar. Today’s Six One Indie Showcase was a fantastic reminder of this, highlighting an impressive array of creative projects. If you have time, the full stream is well worth watching, but here are the standout titles that immediately earned a spot on our Steam wishlists.
Blue Ridge Hunting
Developer: Jade Meadows
Low-poly aesthetics and horror are a match made in heaven. This co-op cryptid-hunting experience leans into that moody charm as you track down the legendary Mothman. The project is currently seeking support via Kickstarter, and you can get a taste of the gameplay right now through their Steam demo.
Feather’s Edge
Developer: Clockwork Acorn
Published by Outersloth, this striking Metroidvania casts you as an avian hero who utilizes their beak as a projectile. It’s a fast-paced, combo-heavy take on the genre wrapped in a vibrant, intricate art style. Keep an eye out for upcoming playtests by signing up on Steam.
The Well’s Blessing
Developer: Big Stretch
Between the soothing pixelated 3D visuals and the tranquil soundtrack, this game has an atmosphere I simply cannot resist. It’s the perfect title to get lost in. You can wishlist it now ahead of the demo release on June 3rd.
Midnight Horde
Developer: Carry Castle
Think Vampire Survivors, but with a focus on parkour and gothic city-building. While you fend off swarms of enemies with powerful magic, you must strategically construct the town’s architecture to gain the upper hand. It looks frantic and chaotic in the best way—try it for yourself via the live demo.
Blocks for Babies
Developer: BunkSoft Interactive
This title offers hilarious tonal whiplash. It starts as a simple puzzle game, but quickly shifts into a frantic, DOOM-inspired FPS when you need to blast away the fleshy, grotesque blocks that refuse to fit. It’s bizarre, fast, and available to play now.
Forklift Flowerpot: Botanical Investigator
Developer: Michael Mato, Too Much Tomato
With its unique 2D-in-3D aesthetic, seasonal mechanics, and a mystery that feels like a detective’s vision board, this title is fascinating. The developers describe it as an “Outer Wilds-like mystery,” which was all the convincing I needed to wishlist it immediately.
Graytail
Developer: Concode
Despite being labeled a “Zelda-like,” the noir-horror aesthetic here is unmistakable. Playing as a protagonist who navigates dangerous situations with nothing but a cane, an umbrella, and a crossbow is incredibly refreshing. It’s a genre-defying project that is well worth your attention; fortunately, a demo is currently available.
Please Insert Disc
Developer: Night Signal Entertainment
This game captures the eerie, liminal feeling of a 2002 console startup screen and transforms it into a full-fledged interactive horror experience. The trailer is cryptic, atmospheric, and left me wanting more. I’ve added it to my Steam wishlist to track its progress.
Sloppy Forgeries
Developer: Playful Systems
This is the perfect local multiplayer party game. Players race to recreate famous paintings using hasty mouse strokes and erratic pixels. The results are bound to be hilarious, making it a great title to pick up with friends. I am definitely wishlisting this one.
b-e-e-t-l-e: be right back!
Developer: Paul and Viv
This project features inventive keyboard-based mechanics that make it feel perfectly at home on PC. Whether you are typing to communicate or using keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl+C to copy items) to solve puzzles, it’s a brilliant concept. You can wishlist it on Steam now.
Grave Seasons
Developer: Perfect Garbage
As we explored in our recent Game Informer deep dive, this game masterfully blends cozy farm-sim vibes with deeply unsettling horror. The team just announced a demo arriving June 15, so be sure to follow the game on Steam.
