Great information for salsa lovers and film junkies: Concord Music will launch its first feature-film soundtrack comprised of all Fania artists for the upcoming film Shine, Billboard can solely reveal.
This is their first three way partnership to derive from Concord’s current acquisition of Fania Records and Publishing, with its roughly 19,00zero grasp recordings and eight,00zero compositions from Codigo Entertainment, introduced in July.
Directed by Anthony Nardolillo, Shine tells the story of brothers Ralphi and Junior, as soon as New York City’s finest salsa dancers, who’re reunited years after the demise of their father, on opposing ends of gentrification. The inspirational movie, based on the official website, is “about family, community, culture, and standing up for what you believe in.”
The film’s vigorous soundtrack will characteristic music by Fania, aligning completely with Concord Music’s efforts to develop their newly shaped movie and tv manufacturing division.
Featuring 12 salsa songs, from Willie Colon’s “El Malo” to “Salsa y Sabor” by Tito Puente, Shine the Soundtrack will probably be launched on Oct. 5 — the identical day the film hits theaters — and is out there on CD on Nov. 16.
