Melanie Martinez’s ‘HADES’ Voted This Week’s Favorite New Music Release
Melanie Martinez has officially claimed the throne in this week’s fan-driven music poll, with her latest studio effort, HADES, emerging as the definitive favorite among listeners.
Following the poll’s launch on Friday (March 27), enthusiasts of the alt-pop visionary rallied to support her newest LP. By the time the final tallies were recorded on Sunday, Martinez had secured a resounding 67% of the total vote, comfortably outpacing a highly competitive field of releases.
The week was packed with major debuts from high-profile artists, including Conan Gray, RAYE, Charlie Puth, and Miley Cyrus. However, Martinez’s 18-track odyssey proved irresistible to the public. The album’s arrival was signaled by the hauntingly evocative singles “Possession” and “Disney Princess,” both of which set the stage for the project’s late-March debut.
To celebrate the launch, Martinez hosted an immersive “Listening Chamber” event in London—a cinematic experience directed by NIYADRE and produced by Bad Bones Films’ Laurence Warder and Daragh McCann. The full visual experience is available to stream above.
Reflecting on the album’s conceptual depth, Martinez revealed that while she initially set out to craft a “futuristic dystopia,” she ultimately found herself documenting the complexities of the contemporary world. “HADES is a cracked mirror,” the artist shared in a statement via Warner Music. “Beneath the rage, it’s a refusal to go numb—a call to feel, to see clearly, and to ask if we can still create something beautiful from the chaos we’ve been given.”
This 18-song collection serves as the highly anticipated successor to her 2023 hit Portals, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
Other notable entries in this week’s poll included Conan Gray’s “The Best,” which garnered 20% of the vote, and RAYE’s This Music May Contain Hope, which captured 7%. Charlie Puth and Miley Cyrus followed, rounding out the top five fan favorites.
