The new movie City of Lies focuses on the investigation into the homicide of the Notorious B.I.G. in 1997. It stars Johnny Depp as detective Russell Poole and Forrest Whitaker as reporter Jack Jackson. The movie was initially slated for a theater launch on September 7. Now, the movie has been pulled from launch in theaters, The Hollywood Reporter notes. No new date has been set for the movie’s launch. Find the film’s trailer beneath.
The movie is customized from the 2003 e book LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records’ Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal by Randall Sullivan. It’s directed by The Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman.
