Lana Del Rey Says Performing in Israel “Is Not a Political Statement”

Lana Del Rey has joined the lineup of the inaugural Meteor Festival, marking her debut stay efficiency in Israel. After dealing with backlash over the announcement, she’s shared a press release on her determination to lastly play within the nation, writing, “We signed on to the show w the intention that it would be performed for the kids there and my plan was for it to be done w a loving energy w a thematic emphasis on peace. If you don’t agree with it I get it. I see both sides.”

She continues, “I would like to remind you that performing in Tel Aviv is not a political statement or a commitment to the politics there just as singing here in California doesn’t mean my views are in alignment w my current governments opinions or sometimes inhuman actions.” In a parenthetical she provides, “I’m not in anyway likening the gravity of certain travesties that have occurred in Israel to the current hardships we’re facing here.” Find the complete assertion under.

Meteor Festival takes place in in Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan, Israel on September 6-8. Other artists set to carry out embrace Pusha-T, Flying Lotus, ASAP Ferg, Kamasi Washington, DJ Koze, Ariel Pink, Yung Lean, and lots of others.

Back in 2014, Lana Del Rey canceled a show that was set to be her debut efficiency in Israel. Many artists have refused to play reveals in Israel as a part of a political protest in opposition to its occupation of Palestine. Back in December, Lorde canceled her Tel Aviv show amid calls to boycott Israel.
