Nordic Horizons: Tornio and Haparanda in ETS2

SCS Software previewed Tornio and Haparanda for the Nordic Horizons map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2. The area is built around a real cross-border pair of towns: Tornio in Finland and Haparanda in Sweden.

What SCS showed

Because of map scale, ETS2 will present the two municipalities under the single in-game name Tornio. SCS says players should still recognize elements from both sides of the border, including a bridge between Finland and Sweden, views of the river and town plaza, and the Engagement Rings sculpture on a roundabout.

Roads and jobs

The local road network includes three small roundabouts recreated for the map. Tornio will also feature a logistics hub with a depot, a fuel station and a service station. South of the town, SCS highlights an industrial zone with a steelworks facility, a river port depot and a wind farm.

The Haparanda-inspired side adds a large Ika depot for deliveries. This makes the area more than a scenery stop: it gives Nordic Horizons players a compact border region with service points, industrial work and recognizable local landmarks.

Border detail

SCS also notes a small real-world quirk: Tornio and Haparanda sit in different time zones, with Finland one hour ahead of Sweden. The developer uses this detail to underline why the area is unusual for the Nordic Horizons DLC.
