A Look Back at Justin Bieber's House Rental History

Justin Bieber may reportedly be struggling to rent a place in Beverly Hills due to his reputation, but he's had no trouble in the past

Justin Bieber does not necessarily seem like the type of person you would want for a next-door neighbor. The singer is always surrounded by security and paparazzi; pesky fans are always trespassing on his property; and in 2014, he was charged with misdemeanor vandalism for egging the exterior of his former neighbor's home in Calabasas, California. (Just months after the incident, which cost him $80,000 in restitution, Bieber sold off the six-bedroom, 9,214-square-foot estate for $7.2 million to Khloé Kardashian.)

Now his antics seem to be catching up with him, as the 23-year-old singer is struggling to find a high-end home in Beverly Hills, despite being willing to dish out up to $100,000 per month, according to the New York Post. Until he does find a semipermanent place to rest his head, Bieber is holed up in the Beverly Hills Hotel.

But despite having a well-known rickety history with rentals, Bieber has rented a litany of homes over the years that have survived (for the most part) the singer's footprint. Here, we take a look back at Bieber's rental history over the past few years.

Lake Hollywood, California (August 2014): The former fitness retreat

After officially unloading his Calabasas home to Kardashian in March 2014, the singer found a place to rent several months later in the form of a $29,500-a-month party pad. The Lake Hollywood house included a private nightclub, movie theater, three bars, elevators, and a glowing replica of the Hollywood Sign rendered in blue glass tile. The ten-bedroom, 18-bath house was built in 2011 by a developer who was never able to unload it, and instead rented it to out to house the 2012 American Idol cast and to Playboy TV's Swing. In late 2012, the owner even temporarily turned the property into a fitness retreat that included late-night cardio dance parties in the nightclub—which we're sure made the neighbors thrilled. It was rumored that Bieber was residing in a nearby condo and using the home strictly to throw lavish parties.

Beverly Hills, California (December 2014): The "Salad Spinner" house

Just a few months later, the famously-all-glass "Salad Spinner" house caught the singer's eye. The $10.5 million six-bedroom, 6.5-bath estate, which was given its nickname due to its structure, cost the singer nearly $60,000 a month. Designed by renowned architect Ed Niles, the 7,500-square-foot house is nearly completely transparent, made up of circular walls of glass. But despite the home having massive entertaining areas and views of both the city and the ocean, Bieber only lived in the rented home for two months: Despite its massive size, the transparency caused privacy issues, and Bieber even found fans trespassing on his property.

Beverly Hills, California (February 2015): The money-saver

While $35,000 a month seems like a hefty price tag for a monthly house rental, the 6,000 square-foot five-bedroom house Bieber moved into after living in his $60,000 glass palace for two months seems almost downright conservative for the singer. With 5.5 baths, four fireplaces, a home theater, and a pool complete with a hot tub and a serenity fountain, the 10,236-square-foot space still had plenty of room for him to have pals over. But one person he was decidedly not hosting was rapper Meek Mills, to whom Bieber leased the "Salad Spinner" house for a week during the 2015 Grammys. The architectural wonder was still technically under Bieber's name, and therefore the singer, who also attended Mills's awards-show after-party there, got pulled into a lawsuit when the rapper's bash, which included Nicki Minaj, French Montana, and Chris Brown, broke into a fight where ice sculptures were used as weapons and the cops were called.

Toluca Lake, California (May 2016): The house of redemption

Despite juggling a jam-packed tour schedule around this time, Bieber started shelling out $80,000 per month to rent a ten-bedroom, 16-bathroom estate on the shores of Toluca Lake. The 13,000-square-foot rental also came with a guest house, a screening room, and a pool into which Bieber and his friends would cannonball from the estate's roof. (Despite this, Bieber was reportedly very well-behaved during his time in Toluca Lake.)

East Hampton, New York (July 2016): The free Hamptons hangout

Although Bieber was reportedly willing to pay just about anything to rent out the Sandcastle, a Hamptons megmansion that has previously rented for $550,000 for just two weeks, the singer was out of luck: The 26,500-square-foot house, which had previously been rented by Jay-Z and Beyonce, was already rented. But the owner of the house, housebuilder Joe Farrell, wasn't going to leave Bieber homeless in the Hamptons, and gave him another mansion free of charge. Bieber's digs for the two weeks normally rented for about $160,000 for half a month. Farrell, however, was compensated in another way, when Bieber treated the mogul and his 12-year-old daughter to a private concert in their home and tickets to his concert in Hartford, Connecticut.

London, England (October 2016): The English estate

It was London calling for the singer last year, when he reportedly rented a 27,000-square-foot mansion northwest of the city. The monthly fee of $133,000 got him 15 bedrooms, 13 baths, two kitchens, several dining and living areas, and a five-car garage. The 1910 estate on 2.5 acres also boasts an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, a private theater, and a wine cellar. Bieber had reportedly fallen in love with life across the pond (at least temporarily), albeit he never seemed to spend an abundant amount of time there.
