Since 1990, Alf Clausen has scored over 560 episodes of “The Simpsons” and written some of the show’s most memorable songs. Today, it was announced that Clausen has been fired from the show, Variety reports. He was nominated for 30 Emmys for his work on the show and won two. His last score was the season finale of season 28, which aired in May. Some of Clausen’s most memorable contributions include the Planet of the Apes musical, Poochie’s rap, “We Do (the Stonecutters’ Song),” “Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart,” and many more. The producers of the show have shared the following statement:

“We tremendously value Alf Clausen’s contributions to the Simpsons and he will continue to have an ongoing role in the show. We remain committed to the finest in music for the Simpsons, absolutely including orchestral. This is the part where we would make a joke but neither Alf’s work nor the music of the Simpsons is treated as anything but seriously by us.”
