Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name Daniel Hernandez) was slated to release a new album, Dummy Boy, later this week. Now, it has been announced via his Instagram account that the release has been postponed. “Due to circumstances beyond our control we have postponed the release of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Dummy Boy until further notice,” the post reads.

The album tracklist released last week included two songs with Kanye West, one of which also features Nicki Minaj. In her own post on Instagram, Nicki stated that the 6ix9ine album was put on hold by “the record company” and added, “Danny, I love you and am praying for you, your Mother, daughter & her Mom during this time.” (6ix9ine is signed to TenThousand Projects, a record label founded by Elliot Grainge, son of Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge.)

On November 18, Hernandez was arrested and charged with federal crimes, including racketeering and firearms charges. Two of those charges see him facing the maximum penalty of life in prison. Hernandez was denied bail after the presiding judge determined that he posed a danger to the community. He is currently being held in a detention center in Brooklyn.

In October 2018, Hernandez was sentenced to four years of probation in a case stemming from a 2015 arrest for the use of a child in a sexual performance. Read “Untangling Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Legal Cases.”
