Chicago rapper Towkio has been accused of sexual assault, a claim he denied in a statement. Yesterday (January 6), Twitter user @pppermint tweeted, “February 2016, I was raped, by Preston Oshita aka Towkio.” The woman detailed their alleged encounter, claiming that Oshita coerced her into sex, and that she attempted to “physically push” him off of her during the alleged assault. “After the assault, I spiraled into a deep and dark depression,” the woman wrote. Find her tweets below.

Last night, Oshita responded to the allegations in a statement on Twitter. “To provide necessary context, she and I were in an ongoing consensual sexual relationship dating back to 2014 which even included other women. I only say this to provide context and in no way to victim shame,” he wrote. “It is my hope that her and I can engage in a dialogue in a place where she feels comfortable to discuss our past relationship and her feelings.” See his full statement below.
