Weezer have hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their cover of “Africa.” Their version of the Toto classic, in at No. 89, is their highest charting song since “(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” reached No. 81 in 2009.

The cover arrived after a months-long campaign from the fan account @WeezerAfrica, whose motives aren’t entirely clear. Weezer originally trolled the campaign by covering Toto’s lesser-known “Rosanna,” but came through with “Africa” a few days later. Toto guitarist and co-founder Steve Lukather has since tweeted his approval; the following day, he told a fan on Twitter that Toto would be returning the favor and recording a Weezer cover.
