Production on Bohemian Rhapsody—the Queen biopic starring Rami Malek—has been put on hold. Twentieth Century Fox issued a statement, saying it has halted production “due to the unexpected unavailability of [director] Bryan Singer.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, he failed to return to the set after Thanksgiving break. Singer’s rep told the BBC on Friday that his absence pertained to a family health issue. Singer also reportedly disappeared during production of 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and 2006’s Superman Returns. Pitchfork has reached out for comment.

In 2010, Sacha Baron Cohen was cast to portray Mercury in the biopic, but he eventually left the project over a dispute with the band. Brian May later said Cohen had lied about there being any problem. Malek signed on to play Mercury last November. Bohemian Rhapsody is scheduled to hit theaters in December 2018.
