Sufjan Stevens, Kendrick Lamar, Questlove, and Chuck D are among the 44 names invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ music branch, as Variety notes. They are among 928 artists and executives invited to join the organization. Others include Dave Chappelle, Hannibal Buress, and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. See the full list via Oscars.org.
On the official list, the Academy cites Kendrick’s work on Black Panther and Divergent. For Sufjan, the Academy cites his Call Me by Your Name music. This past March, Stevens performed that film’s “Mystery of Love” at the Oscars. Watch the music video below.
