Spike Lee Directs New Prince Music Video: Watch

Spike Lee has directed a new extended trailer for “Mary Don’t You Weep,” an archival Prince song that’s included in his new film BlacKkKlansman. The visual features clips from the movie. Watch below. In a recent interview about BlacKkKlansman, Spike Lee said, “Prince wanted me to have that song, I don’t care what nobody says. My brother Prince wanted me to have that song. For this film. There’s no other explanation to me.”

Along with its inclusion in BlacKkKlansman, “Mary Don’t You Weep” is set to appear on Piano & A Microphone: 1983, a forthcoming live album that Prince recorded during a rehearsal at his home studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota in 1983. Piano & A Microphone: 1983 arrives September 21.
