No Jumper Podcast/Label Founder Adam22 Accused of Rape, Responds

Adam Grandmaison—a Los Angeles-based blogger and founder of the underground hip-hop podcast “No Jumper” who goes by Adam22—has been accused of rape. Twitter user Conor Tripler shared screenshots of direct messages—a conversation with an anonymous woman—who claimed that she was raped by the hip-hop tastemaker. She claimed he’s a “serial rapist who is notorious for doxing women who speak up against him for raping them.” Grandmaison has denied the allegations. “Anyone who ever called me a rapist is straight up 100% lying and I’ll defend that forever,” he tweeted. He reiterated his denial in a statement, claiming the allegations against him are fabricated.

Tripler also cited Grandmaison’s own own blog posts from 2010 in which he described his sexual interactions with a minor, saying “if statutory rape is wrong I didn’t wanna to be right.” Grandmaison eventually flew out to meet her in Vancouver—he documented their relationship (which he states occurred while she was 18 or 19 and he was either four or seven years her senior) in graphic detail, posting multiple nude photos despite her “harassing” Grandmaison to take the posts down. Grandmaison addressed the blog posts in another tweet and a statement to Newsweek:

i wrote the post in question over 10 years ago and deleted it within 6 months of writing it but people saved archived versions of the post and have been sending it around trying to imply that i had sex with her when she was 16 when in reality i was making light of the bad luck i experienced (i met her online but she didn't tell me that she was 16 until we first spoke on the phone - although to be fair it would have been legal via canadian law so she didn't even realize why i had to stop talking to her until after i explained that the age of consent in America is 18.

When reached by further comment by Pitchfork, Grandmaison shared this statement: “All I got to say is that I dated her for a few months 10+ years ago and we had a pretty nice relationship until it ended. Any claims of rape or abuse are completely baseless.” He later tweeted, “That girl said I posted underage nudes of her. In reality I never posted nude photos of her at all nevermind underage ones. I’m taking a polygraph this week fuck it.”

The news follows Grandmaison’s announcement of his partnership with Atlantic Records to form the new imprint No Jumper Records. He was once described by Rolling Stone as “underground hip-hop’s major tastemaker.” At one point, Grandmaison was XXXTentacion’s manager. On his podcast, he’s championed 6ix9ine, who pleaded guilty in a child sex case.
