Missy Elliott has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Her nomination was initially announced back in November 2018. Other artists among this year’s round of inductees include John Prine, producer Dallas Austin (Brandy & Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine,” TLC’s “Creep”), Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Jack Tempchin, and Tom T. Hall. The induction ceremony will take place June 13 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

In 2017, JAY-Z became the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Missy Elliott is the first female rapper to be nominated and inducted. Read our Sunday Review of Missy Elliott’s 1997 album Supa Dupa Fly.
