A new documentary about Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen’s love story will premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. It’s called Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, and it’s directed by Nick Broomfield. Ihlen is the inspiration behind some of Cohen’s most well-known work, including “Bird on a Wire” and “So Long, Marianne.” Days before Ihlen died in 2016, Cohen sent her a letter saying, “I think I will follow you very soon.” Cohen died four months later.

Sundance will also host the world premieres of documentaries about David Crosby and Miles Davis. David Crosby: Remember My Name is directed by A.J. Eaton and co-produced by Cameron Crowe. Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool is directed by Stanley Nelson. Honey Boy, a film written by and starring Shia LeBeouf that reportedly features FKA twigs, will also premiere.
