La Roux Blasts Fox Business Network for Using “Bulletproof” in Segment on Kids’ Bulletproof Clothing

La Roux has criticized Fox Business Network for using her 2009 hit “Bulletproof” to soundtrack a segment on bulletproof clothing for kids. The segment, which aired with the tagline “Back to School Safety,” gave an overview of a line of “high-end bulletproof backpacks and clothing” that are “revamping the protective equipment market.” In a statement to Pitchfork, La Roux’s Elly Jackson says, “Using ‘Bulletproof,’ a song I wrote about relationships, for a piece like this is abhorrent. I have never, and would never approve my music to be used in this way.”

“The song was chosen by the production team and the selection has been addressed,” a representative from the Fox Business Network told Pitchfork in a statement. Media Matters posted the full segment, and you can watch a clip below.
