Lady Gaga has won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. A Star Is Born’s “Shallow”—co-written by Gaga, Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando, and Mark Ronson—beat out songs by Kendrick Lamar and SZA (“All the Stars,” Black Panther), Gillian Welch and David Rawlings (“When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings,” The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), Diane Warren (“I’ll Fight”, RBG), Gillian Welch (Buster Scruggs’ “When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings”), Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Mary Poppins Returns’ “The Place Where Lost Things Go”), and Diane Warren (RBG’s “I’ll Fight”).

Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s collaboration previously took home Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 2019 Grammy Awards. Best Original Song marks A Star Is Born’s only 2019 Oscar, though it was nominated for seven additional awards: Best Picture (which went to Green Book), Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), Best Actress (Gaga), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Mixing.
