Last night (May 4), Olivia Rodrigo spoke out about abortion rights at her Washington, D.C. concert. Rodrigo paused during the middle of her show to express how “heartbroken” she is over the recent news that the Supreme Court plans to overturn the landmark abortion rights decision Roe v. Wade. “Our bodies should never be in the hands of politicians,” she said, as her audience cheered. “I hope we can raise our voices to protect our right to have a safe abortion, which is a right that so many people before us have worked so hard to get.” Watch her speech on Twitter.
In the wake of the news, Phoebe Bridgers opened up about her own experience getting an abortion and shared a link to The Cut’s list of abortion funds for people to make donations. Halsey also shared resources, writing, in part, “I cannot stress enough the implications of this moment in history. This is a cruel attack on our fundamental right to choose if and when to have a child.”
