Last night (November 7), Joni Mitchell made a rare public appearance for her 75th birthday celebration at the Los Angeles Music Center, as Jezebel notes. The lineup for the tribute concert included Chaka Khan, Kris Kristofferson, Rufus Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, and more. As The Los Angeles Times reports, Mitchell did not perform or speak during the event, but she appeared on stage during a closing performance of “Big Yellow Taxi” and to blow out the candles on her birthday cake. Joni Mitchell’s public appearances have been rare since she suffered a brain aneurysm in early 2015. This month saw the release of a new photo book and a vinyl edition of her Love Has Many Faces compilation.
